1,100 leaving Ireland each month to seek work in UK - report

It is feared that up to 1,000 people are leaving Ireland to find work in Britain every month.

Figures from the UK Department of Work and Pensions show that more than 5,500 Irish nationals registered to work there in the first six months of this year.

The data obtained by the Irish Independent also reveals that more than 11,000 people emigrated to Britain last year.
