'Only Fools and Horses' star passes away

'Only Fools and Horses' star Roger Lloyd-Pack has died aged 69, his agent said.

The actor, best known for playing Trigger in the long-running comedy, died at home in London last night.

His agent, Maureen Vincent, said he had pancreatic cancer and had “died at home surrounded by his family”.

Just in case you're not sure who he is, here's a classic clip from the sitcom.

Roger starred in several sitcoms, including the role of foul-mouthed farmer Owen Newitt in 'The Vicar of Dibley' and he also appeared in two episodes of 'Doctor Who' in 2005.

Roger, who was born in north London on February 8, 1944, also played several more serious parts including 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy' alongside Gary Oldman in 2011.

Harry Potter fans may also know him as the head of the Department of International Magical Co-operation.

Upon hearing the news several stars took to Twitter to pay tributes to the fantastic actor, including his friend and fellow actor Clive Merrison.

He wrote: "The great and inimitable Roger Lloyd Pack died last night,Safe journey my friend.(sic)"

'Gavin and Stacey' star James Corden also paid his respects to the late great actor on the social networking site.

He tweeted: "So sad to hear about the passing on Roger Lloyd Pack. What an incredible actor and person. May he rest in peace. (sic)"

Simon Pegg wrote: "Sad news about the passing of actor Roger Lloyd-Pack (Trigger to most folk) (sic)"

Danniella Westbrook tweeted: "Roger Lloyd Pack RIP .. Fantastic actor , a true comedy legend x #Rip (sic)"

Lloyd-Pack was also a successful stage actor, appearing regularly at Shakespeare's Globe in central London, but knew he would always be best known as Trigger.

In a 2012 interview with the Guardian, he said: “People will never stop shouting ”Trigger!“ at me in the street. The other day I jumped some lights on my bike because someone was hollering at me. A police van pulled me over, and when I stopped they also shouted: ”Trigger!“. It can be very annoying.”

He was also politically active and a prominent campaigner for left-wing causes in the capital.

Lloyd-Pack’s daughter Emily shot to fame in the 1987 film 'Wish You Were Here' before stepping back from the celebrity limelight after struggling with health issues.
