Murs ’delighted’ with airplay award

Former X-Factor runner-up Olly Murs has been unveiled as the most played pop star of 2013.
The singer saw off competition including Bruno Mars and Katy Perry to top the chart put together by music royalty body Phonographic Performance Ltd (PPL) which is based on airplay on TV and radio and venues including pubs, clubs, gyms and shops.
He said: “I’m absolutely delighted I’ve won this award.
“I’d like to thank all the writers and producers on all the records that I’ve done, they’ve been incredible, of course the TV channels, the radio stations, the pubs, the clubs, the bingo halls, whoever has played my songs. It means a lot to me and of course the fans because I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for them.”
His track Troublemaker was the ninth most played pop track of the year with Daft Punk’s hit Get Lucky topping that chart followed by Robin Thicke’s Blurred lines and Mirrors by Justin Timberlake.
