Madonna collects lifetime achievement honour

Pop superstar Madonna was honoured with an MTV Total Request Live (TRL) Lifetime Achievement Award in New York City on Saturday night.

U2 frontman Bono was also lauded for his humanitarian efforts, taking home the Most Inspired Artist award, while Mariah Carey and Kanye West were named TRL's First Lady and Man Of The Year respectively.

Viewers of the live music show voted for each category.
