Arnie will be back for new 'Conan' film

Universal Pictures has made a deal for a new 'Conan' film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The deal sees the character and the former Governor of California head back to Universal after an unsuccessful reboot of the franchise in 2011 starring Jason Momoa and housed at Millennium Films.

Chris Morgan and Frederik Malmberg will produce 'The Legend of Conan', with the studio keen to have a film out by the summer of 2014.

Schwarzenegger starred in two 'Conan' movies - 'Conan the Barbarian' and 'Conan the Destroyer' in 1982 and 1984 respectively, before moving on to begin work on the 'Terminator' series.

Commenting on the new movie, he said: "I always loved the Conan character and I'm honoured to be asked to step into the role once again.

"I can't wait to work with Universal and the great team of Fredrik Malmberg and Chris Morgan to develop the next step of this truly epic story."

The former Austrian bodybuilder has begun making a return to films following the completion of his work as Governor of California, with parts in 'The Expendables 2', 'The Tomb' and 'Unknown Soldier'.
