Volkswagen appoints new CEO

Volkswagen has a new boss and he is pledging to do everything to win back the trust of the public.

CEO Matthias Mueller, who was at Porsche, has been explaining how VW will deal with the scandal involving some cars that can cheat emissions testing.

He says the firm stands by its responsibility to do the right thing: "I am grateful for this trust and I take on this post in times when there are challenges which never existed before.

"I’m sure that we will definitely overcome this crisis together.

"We will return Volkswagen to an even stronger business."
