UCD business school offers 40 free places to unemployed

A leading Irish business school has announced the provision of 40 free college places for unemployed workers.

UCD Quinn School of Business said today that the places on its Bachelor of Business Studies programme would be made available as part of the government initiative to improve access to education for the unemployed.

Unemployed workers taking up these places can continue to draw their jobseekers' allowance while completing the programme, which is being funded by the Government.

The news follows the recent announcement by Education Minister Batt O’Keeffe that 1,500 undergraduate and 1,000 postgraduate spaces would be made available as part of the Government’s efforts to upskill the labour force and drive economic growth.

Professor Tom Begley, Dean of UCD Business Schools, said the institution was 'delighted' to be participating in the scheme.
