Receiver appointed to Waterford Castle

Waterford Castle has been placed into provisional liquidation and a receiver has been appointed.

The hotel and golf resort says it plans to continue trading and it will be business as usual.

The owners say that they aim to honour bookings.

The hotel later issued a press release, stating: "On Friday, July 19, 2013, the companies behind the Waterford Castle Hotel & Golf Resort, Newgold Limited and Cendant Limited, were placed into provisional liquidation and receivership.

"Mr Aiden Murphy of Crowe Horwath was appointed provisional liquidator whilst Mr Eoin Ryan McKeogh Gallagher Ryan was appointed as the Statutory Receiver.

"It is the intention to continue trading, and to keep this well-known island hotel and golf resort open for 'business as usual'.

"Given the great location, it is hoped that people will continue to benefit from the hotels facilities and, to the extent possible, the immediate objective is to secure operations and to honour bookings.

"Given the continuation of trade, we look forward to working with Waterford Castle’s staff to drive the business forward and would like to thank all the customers and staff for their continued support throughout this period."
