Millions across eurozone face unemployment this year: Forecast

Millions more people across the eurozone face becoming unemployed in 2013.

The European Commission said the already record level of unemployment across the eurozone was likely to rise markedly throughout this year.

The EU's winter economic forecast said the unemployment rate across the 17-state currency area would hit 12.2% for 2013, up from 11.4% last year.

That rise would take the number of unemployed people above 20 million.

Meanwhile, the eurozone faces another full year of recession in 2013 with economic output set to shrink by 0.3%, after a 0.6% contraction last year.
