ISEQ down over 1%

The ISEQ index of Irish shares closed down 32.38 points at 3,024.92, a drop of 1.06%.

Among notable fallers were CRH, down 35c to €17.74; Tullow Oil, shedding 25c to €13.90; Smurfit Kappa, slipping 20c to €6.15; Grafton Group, down 8c to €3.17; Elan Corp, also down 8c, to €5.42;, and Ryanair, down 7c to €3.43.

Financial stocks were also in the red, with AIB down 5c to €1.40, Bank of Ireland slipping 2c to €1.21 and Irish Life & Permanent down 12c to €3.66.

On the risers' board, Aryzta added 55c to €28.70; Paddy Power climbed 15c to €23.40 and Kingspan was up 9c, to €6.02.
