Ireland will finally receive internationally recognised grades on the level of activity of children next year, researchers have confirmed.

Countries such as Canada, South Africa, and Kenya, as well as the American state of Louisiana, have been collating report cards on physical activity for years, pulling together information from various sources and covering areas such as levels of childhood obesity and engagement with organised sport, play, and leisure activities.

A panel of Irish researchers has now begun the process of delivering Ireland’s first such report card, with the results expected early next year.
