Late flurry enough for Passage

Passage 1-19 Ballyduff Upper 0-17
Passage progressed to the Waterford SHC semi-finals for the first time since 2010 after striking five late points to defeat Ballyduff Upper at Fraher Field yesterday.

With the strong wind in their favour, Ballyduff Upper led 0-12 to 1-4 at the break. It could have been a much greater advantage but eight first-half wides and a late Passage rally pared down the gap.

Waterford minor stars Mikey Kearney and Cian Leamy played prominent parts as the Reds galloped 0-11 to 0-2 clear with two minutes remaining in the half before Owen Connors slammed a Passage goal.

Peter Queally’s charges darted for the finish line with Seamus Barry, Conor Carey, Owen Connors, Killian Fitzgerald and John Whitty all on target.
