Peamount hold off battling Cork

PEAMOUNT UNITED are two points clear at the summit of the Bus Éireann FAI Women’s National League following a 3-2 victory over Cork Women’s FC at Greenogue yesterday.

Goals from Ruth Comerford, Louise Quinn and Stephanie Roche gave the hosts a three-goal cushion. Late goals from Laura Lynch and Denise O’Sullivan gave the Leesiders faint hope but Peamount held on.

Raheny United edged Shamrock Rovers 3-2 at Morton Stadium.

Meanwhile, Cherelle Khazgal scored twice for Wexford Youths Women’s AFC in a 4-3 win away to Castlebar Celtic FC.
