Blues and Blarney win
Blarney travelled to Youghal United on Friday night for a Munster Cup third round tie and two late goals from Jonathan Coker and Ray O’Leary saw them advance.
Avondale were in action in the quarter-final of the Donie Forde Trophy and were made fight all the way by College Corinthians at Corinthians Park. Mark O’Sullivan headed home the winner deep into extra-time after the sides were scoreless after 90 minutes.
Corinthians face Kildrum Tigers at home next Sunday in the Intermediate Cup.
In the other Donie Forde quarter-final matches, Douglas Hall defeated Everton 4-2 at Everton Park, with Chris Fox (2), Mark Reardon and Pat Coakley scoring, while first division Bandon defeated premier division Leeds 2-1 at Town Park in Bandon.
There was only one Beamish Stout Munster Senior League Premier Division match. Rockmount defeated Midleton 4-1 at Knockgriffin.
The result puts Rockmount eight points off leaders Avondale but with a game more played, while Midleton remain in relegation trouble with seven points from 11 games.
In the First Division, Castleview went down 1-0 at home to Tramore Athletic. Carrigaline United stay two points ahead of UCC and three points ahead of Fermoy at the top. Carrigaline defeated Ballinhassig 2-1 at Gortnalougha, UCC saw off Ringmahon Rangers 1-0 at Ringmahon Park, Fermoy won 3-0 at Ballincollig.
In the second division, Mallow United could have went top with a win at CIT but the students’ 2-1 win puts them back into the promotion race.
Crofton Celtic and Glasheen drew 1-1 at CIT. Temple United and Passage United drew 2-2 at Temple Park.
