Don’t squander our oil and gas reserves

WITH the advent of wind turbine and wave energy power our other resources such as oil and gas should earn royalties for the exchequer. The goal posts have changed.

Our resources have become more valuable due to scarcity of oil and the situation in the Mideast. Cost and recovery of the oil and gas should not cloud our judgement when giving away licences to oil companies. They know it is cheaper to keep our resources in the ground until the price is right.

We can now barter with our wind and wave power going forward as an alternative to fossil fuels. We have the responsibility to strike the best deal for our children’s future. History should not say we squandered our oil and gas.
