IRELAND’S Niamh O’Brien yesterday clinched a main draw place in the Tennis Europe U14 event in Bonnevoie, Luxembourg.
O’Brien booked her place in the last 32 thanks to a 6-1 6-4 win over Egypt’s Zeina El Tawil, and today she faces a stiff test against the No 6 seed, Germany’s Stefanie Piesch.
Meanwhile, Daniel Glancy has also been drawn against the No 6 seed, Dutch player Antal Van Der Duim, in today’s first round of the ITF Futures event in Enschede, Netherlands.
Meanwhile Irish No 1 Conor Niland is likely to learn early today who he will face in the first round of the US Open qualifying.
Niland will have to win three matches to make the 128-strong main draw which gets under way next Monday.
