Beau can complete quick double

FLASHY BEAU, from the in-form Ger Lyons yard, gets the nap to land the Baltrasna Fegentri Handicap at Fairyhouse tonight.

The five-year-old is making a quick reappearance, having enjoyed the first success of his life at Roscommon on Monday evening. After finishing twice this season on soft ground, the selection seemed very much at home on the fast Roscommon surface and with a change of tactics.

Normally a hold-up horse, Flashy Beau was ridden on the pace throughout, forging to the front early in the straight to beat Auburn Lodge a comfortable two lengths.

Lyons’ gelding carries a mandatory 5lbs penalty now, it’s surely a safe bet he will go up by more in the future, and the booking of Nina Carberry, in a contest confined to amateur riders, is an obvious plus.

Great Quest, a Tommy Stack-trained daughter of Montjeu, can take the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Maiden. She made her debut on this track a week ago and it took plenty of time for the penny to drop. But Great Quest was noted staying on strongly at the end to finish five lengths third to Dream To Dress and stepping up another two furlongs can only be a help.

Eddie Lynam has prospects of a double with Key Rose and All Flash.

Key Rose has run two cracking races at the Curragh, third to Where’s That Tiger and to BA Foxtrot, and is the choice in the Irish Stallion Farms’ Auction two-year-old Maiden.

All Flash, five lengths second to Caheerloch at the Curragh, warrants a hopeful vote in a moderate Ashbourne Median Auction Maiden.
