Land price control has no place in democracy

MINISTER of state Tom Parlon got it right when he said capping the value of development land is a policy initiative somewhere left of Stalin.

In a democracy everyone should be entitled to the full market value for their house, their business or their land.

Why should the state be allowed to take land off people for less than market value and pass it on to others who will get the full market price?

Everyone knows that incentives work much better than sanctions in the market place.

The reduction of capital gains tax from 40% to 20% released more development land onto the market than any negative action could ever achieve.
