Meanwhile 13-year-old Derek Tyner from Innishannon won the feature event for the second day running on Desert Boy owned by his mother Francis and trained by his father Ernest.
Derek rode a splendid race, coming to challenge on the back straight and staying on powerfully to win by two lengths.
The opening 12.2 6 furlong pony race was won by Maniac trained at Askeaton Co. Limerick by Barry Fitzgerald and well ridden by Emmet Mc Namara from Rathkeale. This was the winner’s 52nd win of its career.
Delilah, owned by Paddy Finn of Glenbeigh, Co. Kerry, Race Committee was a game winner of the mile 13.2 race, under a most enterprising ride by 11year old Turlough O’ Connor from Inchtotane, Newmarket.
Jockey Emmet McNamara completed a double on Wild Rose for trainer Eric Tyner in the mile 14.2 hands race, where he made all the running.
Twelve-year-old jockey Pat Mangan from Conna scored his first ever pony racing win in the 15.0 hands when he rode a splendid race on Perfect Storm.
The son of Grand National winning trainer Jimmy Mangan, this is Pat’s first season in pony racing.
Jockey Tom Barry, a talented 16-year-old from Conna excelled on Cossie on which he made all the running to win a trilling open Maiden by a length from Black Beauty.
