Kernan: Joyce will be back

Tuesday, February 02, 2010

JOE KERNAN has insisted Paraic Joyce will play football for Galway this year.

Currently recovering from surgery on an achilles tendon injury he picked up before Christmas, it was feared that the forward would miss most, if not all, of the National League. Not so, said Kernan.

"We have Paraic Joyce," the new Galway manager confirmed. "He has had an injury and has come back from it. I hope he will be back for maybe the third or fourth game in the league."

Meanwhile Wexford boss Jason Ryan is still unsure about the availability of Matty Forde for the 2010 season.

Forde, who missed most of last year’s league and championship due to a recurring back problem has yet to rejoin the senior squad although he did play with Gorey District in an inter-district trial game a fortnight ago. Ryan said: "I’ve no indication if or when Matty will be back. He’s not training with us at the moment but the door is wide open for him to return."
