Meat workers lose to cheap imported labour

WHILE in full agreement with IFA protests against imported beef ruining livelihoods I must ask who speaks for the Irish meat factory workers who lost their jobs to cheaper, imported workers?

This would go some way to answering Social and Family Affairs Minister Seamus Brennan’s query as to why so many Irish were on the live register.

These factories are the first to avail of Government funding for trade fairs to market Irish beef, but are very quiet about their treatment of Irish workers in order to make even greater profits.
