A FEW ideas for the Catholic Church, a bit tongue in cheek of necessity.

* Elect Hans Kung as Pope, or at least as special adviser to the Vatican.

* Allow priests to marry – within the year.

* Women to become priests within three years, allowing time for training.

* Bishops to be men or women. Not necessarily priests – within the year.

* Titles and special forms of address to be consigned to the dustbin. No more Father What’s-its, unless he is your father.

* Clerical collars. Forget it.

* Then elect Michael O’Leary as Taoiseach. One term should do it.
