IN response to her letter (November 25), I am pleased to reassure Cllr Marcia K D’Alton and readers about Indaver’s plans to address flooding at our Ringaskiddy site in Cork harbour.
As was detailed at the recent Bord Pleanála hearing, Indaver proposes to raise the height of a key section of land by two metres above the existing level.
In addition to this, our proposal also includes sophisticated water management systems.
This means that for the first time, the site and area will have proper water drainage, collection and control.
It is also worth noting that in the two recent instances of flooding in the area (2004 and 2009), it is the adjoining road, and not our site, that flooded in the first instance.
A specifically created ditch resulted in water flowing off the higher level road and onto our lower level site on both occasions.
