Dublin: Ireland’s dot.ie internet domain address has been voted the safest national domain in Europe and the second-safest in the world by leading computer security company, McAfee.
Only Japan’s national online domain (dot.jp) was deemed safer than Ireland on a global basis.
"This strong performance is a direct result of the managed registry model IEDR operates to oversee the dot.ie namespace," said David Curtin, chief executive of IE Domain Registry (IEDR), the body which operates the domain.
