Allen to mount strong campaign for council seat

FORMER ICMSA National President Frank Allen will make an all-out final bid to-night to secure the Association’s ‘floating’ National Council seat for Limerick.

The former national president was unsuccessful in securing a Kilmallock Area council seat, which went instead to county chairman, Gerard Quain, Ballyagran.

Quain himself had lost his seat on ICMSA’s National Council last year to county secretary, Marian Collins of Newcastle West.

In their marathon election battle, several ballots failed to separate the two candidates, but Gerard Quain lost out eventually when Marian Collins’s name was drawn from a hat to conclude the election battle.

If she decides to contest the election to retain her seat, Collins, a well-known breeder and exhibitor of award winning Holstein-Friesians, is in the limelight again at tonight’s Limerick ICMSA AGM at Adare, as Frank Allen’s election rival.
