Trading-up: vendors swap the decks in record deal
Not only are the vendors of this Carhue bungalow trading up to a bigger home, they are also upping the deck space in their new home: they are upping sticks, having paid probably the highest price yet for a modern home in or around Clonakilty, close to €600,000, for a stone-faced large house with dramatic sited deck at Ard Alainn, an upmarket scheme of 12 large detached homes a mile from the West Cork town.
The sale just closed recently on Revsudden, sold by Henry O’Leary Property Partners, which went up for sale in mid-April with a 550,000-plus price tag and found new owners within a month. Although unconfirmed, it is understood the sale price was just a shade short of 600,000, for a high quality home of 3,200 sq ft with a deck perched overlooking a river valley.
The purchasers, Aidan and Darina Scally, own the Centra supermarket on Clonakilty’s Western Road near their new home.
Now, with the record-making purchase completed, they are selling up their family home at Carhue, also with a mile of the town.
This L-shaped bungalow has 2,350 sq ft of space on a half acre site, with four bedrooms, Jacuzzi, sauna, a level lawn suitable for tennis court - and a deck.
The deck in question wraps around a conservatory to the rear of the house, and overlooks the town, as well as having rural views.
Other accommodation at this very well-kept house includes large kitchen/dining area, equally large 22’ by 13’ living room, office, study, four bedrooms, bathroom, shower room and garage.
Henry O’Leary Property Partners seeks offers over €380,000 for the Carhue property.
