Ground sharing does not work, says Benitez

LIVERPOOL last night insisted they have no plans to share their proposed new stadium with Everton, though British Sports Minister Richard Caborn has announced he plans to talk to both clubs over the prospect of them sharing a new stadium in the city.

Caborn will hold talks next Wednesday with officials from the Merseyside clubs, but Reds manager Rafa Benitez has said: “it is not for me and I do not believe Liverpool or Everton fans want it.”

Liverpool have planning permission to build a new 60,000-capacity stadium in Stanley Park for their sole use and last night the club website confirmed that that position is “unchanged.”
