Khan to consider offer
The 17-year- old has become one of the sport’s hottest properties after his heroics in the lightweight division at the Olympic Games in Athens.
Khan’s father Shah and agent Asif Vali yesterday claimed they are only receiving second-hand information from the ABA and that, although Khan expressed a desire to stay amateur until after the 2008 Beijing Olympics, they have no option but to listen to professional promoters.
But the ABA’s Paul King said that they will table an offer of £70,000- a-year tax-free for the Bolton boxer to stay an amateur.
His agent said: “It’s a good offer - but the first we’ve known about it. We’ve not received anything in writing. The media are still waiting for Paul and his team to give us the offer in writing - but it’s got to be considered.”
