Index falls for fourth day

THE ISEQ index dropped for the fourth consecutive day mirroring similar drops across Europe. The Dublin market closed down 7.21 points to 6000.68.

AIB fell back 8c to €16.32. Bank of Ireland which is due to announce its final results today, remained constant at €12.22. In the second line, Anglo-Irish lost ground, shedding 21c to €9.35 while Irish Life & Permanent rose by 7c to €13.05.

In the construction sector, CRH lost 17c to cross the line at €19.48. Grafton declined 22c to €8.30 on the back of concerns of a slowdown in British consumer spending. Kingspan dipped 22c to €8.83 reflecting the downward trend in the sector.

Ryanair was unchanged at €5.75. Jurys Doyle, the hotel group, dropped 10c to close out at €14.20. Elan added 5c to its share value at the closing bell to rest at €5.35.
