Strachan looks to have finally landed Zurawski

MACIEJ Zurawski’s protracted transfer to Celtic appears to at last be drawing to a conclusion after the Pole flew into Glasgow yesterday.

The 29-year-old has taken his time in deciding to leave Wisla Krakow for Parkhead, eventually snubbing the advances of Turkish side Trabzonspor in the process.

But the two clubs took an age to decide the payment structure of a deal which will cost Celtic about £2million.

The forward is regarded as Poland’s top striker and scored in World Cup qualifiers against England, Wales and Northern Ireland last season.

Meanwhile, Algeria international Djamel Belmadi has begun a trial spell at Celtic.

The 29-year-old has played for a number of clubs in the past nine years, including Paris St Germain, Celta Vigo and Marseilles.

He also spent four months on loan at Manchester City in 2003.
