Waterpark top Div 3 after win over Ballina
As Instonians moved into second place it was, however, a disappointing weekend for Corinthians who were forced into a draw at home by lowly Suttonians. It was an ideal opportunity for Corinthians to strengthen their position at the top but they now have to be satisified with third position, just below Instonians on points difference.
West Cork side, Clonakilty, continue to shine in the division and they had little difficulty in disposing of the challenge put up by Queens University at Shannonvale Cross. Clonakilty netted a bonus point by scoring five tries and won by 37 points to 13.
Connemara kept pace but they had a much harder fight on their hands at home to Monkstown. There was just the kick of a ball between the teams as Connemara edged through by 14pts to 11.
Highfield were unable to push themselves further up the table when they lost to Derry at Judges Road. The Cork side will, however, have taken some satisfaction to pick up a bonus point and keep their hopes of promotion alive.
Monkstown, following their defeat to Connemara, are now firmly entrenched on the bottom of the table and have lost all four matches, albeit having picked up a couple of bonus points along the way.
Above them are Skerries, Ballina and Banbridge, each of whom have won just one from four, Suttonians with two draws and a bonus point and Naas with one win and two bonus points. All six teams need to get things moving in the next couple of games to avoid trauma at the end of the campaign.
