Ingredients

  • 50g brown flour

  • 200g self raising flour

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 100g caster sugar

  • 4 tbsp of soft butter

  • 125ml milk

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 medium sized apples

  • 2 tsp brown sugar

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180ºC/gas mark 4. Put 12 bun cases into a bun tin.

  2. Put the brown flour into a bowl and then put the self-raising flour, the cinnamon and the baking powder into a sieve. Sieve them in on top of the brown flour by gently tapping the side of the sieve with a spoon. Mix them all together.

  3. Put the butter into a saucepan and ask an adult to help you melt it.

  4. Carefully pour the melted butter into a jug and add the milk and the eggs and stir them until everything is combined.

  5. Carefully grate the two apples.

  6. Add the liquid ingredients into the flour as well as the grated apple. Stir everything together with the wooden spoon.

  7. Spoon the mixture between the 12 bun cases. Sprinkle the top of each bun with a little of the brown sugar.

  8. Ask an adult to help you put the tray into the oven. Bake the buns for 25 minutes. They should be risen and golden looking.

  9. Once the buns are cool enough to handle, place them onto a wire rack to cool.
