A WINTER wedding lived up to Rose Jennings and Páraic O'Connor’s every expectation.

Rose, from Montenotte, Cork, and Páraic, from Castleisland, Co Kerry, were married in St Mary's Cathedral, Killarney, Co Kerry, by Fr John Kerin, and held their reception in the Killarney Great Southern.

“We always knew we wanted a winter wedding. Our vision was to create a warm and cosy atmosphere surrounded by our family and friends. We envisioned lots of candles and a lovely fire to enhance that seasonal charm,” says the bride.

The 19th-century Muckross House and Gardens provided a magical backdrop as Laura and Benny Photography ( lauraandbennyphotography.com) and Weddimony Films captured special moments on camera.

Rose and Páraic’s paths first crossed five years ago. “We met at work in December 2020, not long after I transferred back home to Cork having spent a few years away in Kilkenny.

We went on our first date Christmas week and the rest is history.” He popped the question almost two years later. “We got engaged in October 2022. Páraic booked a romantic getaway to the Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny,” adds Rose.

As for their big day? “It was so much fun. We were surrounded by all our favourite people and made the best memories,” says the bride.

Helping them celebrate were the bride’s mum and dad Essie and Donal Jennings and her brother Peter Jennings and the groom’s parents Annemaria Kerin and Eamon O'Connor and his grandmother Sheila O'Connor.

Rose’s sister Eve Jennings was her maid of honour and her childhood friends Jane Dooley and Clair Dooley were her bridesmaids. Páraic's brother David O'Connor was his best man and his brothers Cathal O'Connor and Ned O'Connor were the groomsmen.

“Páraic's brother-in-law, Donal Kelly, wrote us a personalised poem as part of our ceremony. It was so special and was welcomed with a round of applause from our guests.

“We spent the whole day laughing and smiling. One funny aspect of the day was when I forgot my bouquet of flowers for the photoshoot at Muckross. One of the groomsmen had to run back and get them, which gave everyone a good laugh!"

Rose was super-elegant in an Anna Sposa design. “I got my dress at The White Ivy Bridal Boutique in Kenmare,” she says. “Páraic and the groomsmen got their suits at Ryle Menswear in Tralee.” Cathyanne Kelleher was the bridal hairstylist with Sarah Cummins as the makeup artist.

The newlyweds, who live in Montenotte and work in Cork city, are now looking forward to their honeymoon. “We're heading to Singapore, Maldives and Dubai in March. We're so excited,” says Rose.
