Gardaí seek driver who fled fatal Limerick crash as firearm recovered from vehicle
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have seen the first vehicle, a Seat Leon with the registration plate KV12-KHP in the Kerry, Limerick and Cork North area.
Gardaí are seeking assistance in identifying a driver who fled the scene of a crash in Co Limerick that resulted in the death of a man.
The three-vehicle collision occurred on the N21 between Abbeyfeale and Newcastle West, Co Limerick, on June 8 at approximately 11pm.
The passenger in the first car, a man aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where an autopsy will take place. The coroner has been notified.
A Garda spokesperson said: "The driver of the first car left the scene on foot and gardaí are seeking to identify this person. A firearm was recovered at scene from the vehicle and will be subject to further technical and ballistic analysis.
"Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have seen the first vehicle, a Seat Leon with the registration plate KV12-KHP in the Kerry, Limerick and Cork North areas between Sunday 7th June 2026 and Monday 8th June 2026 to come forward."
Gardaí are particularly interested in speaking to any business premises that may have provided accommodation to any occupants of the vehicle, as well as service stations where occupants may have purchased fuel.
Investigators are also appealing to road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, and who were travelling on the N21 from Newcastle West towards Abbeyfeale between 11pm and 11.30pm on Monday, June 8, 2026, to make that footage available to gardaí.
