A proposal in Co Clare led to a big day out for Tipperary bride Maresa Floyd and her Cork bridegroom Seamus Corry.

The couple, who first laid eyes on each other five years ago, were married recently in the bride’s home parish church, Our Lady of the Wayside, Birdhill, Co Tipperary, with a reception in Fitzgeralds Woodlands House Hotel & Spa, Adare, Co Limerick.

“We met at the start of covid back in 2020 and we went on our first date in Limerick,” says Maresa. “We got on so well — I fell for his Cork accent and quick wit straight away!”

Seamus popped the question on December 23, 2023. “It was an early Christmas present for Maresa,” he says. “We got engaged in our favourite spot, the Liscannor cliff walk in Co Clare.”

They were married by Fr Joe Delaney and cousins of the bride performed music and sang during the wedding Mass. “This really added to the ceremony and made it so special, they were incredible,” says Maresa.

Bentley Wedding Cars, Limerick, ensured the newlyweds travelled in style and en route to the reception, there was also a stop-off for a super-glamorous photoshoot at The Abbey, in Adare, Limerick, led by Kaspars Sarovarcenko, Black Diamond Photography (blackdiamondphotography.ie), and videographer Declan Gleeson, SES Digital.

Friends and family arrived from across Ireland and overseas to celebrate a day “full of love and laughter and plenty of emotion”, adds Maresa.

“My brother Odran flew in from Melbourne for the celebration, and it was so lovely having him home for the week.”

The Pearls Wedding Band and DJ got the party started after the meal. “We sang and danced until the early hours. We couldn’t have asked for a better day,” says the bride.

“We were just surprised at how quickly the day goes by!”

Toasting to their future happiness were Maresa’s parents, Nora and Joe Floyd, and Seamus’s mum and dad, Teresa and Jim Corry.

Marea’s sister Aoibheann Floyd was by her side as maid of honour, while her friends Una Ryan Kearns, Aisling Berkery, and Marian Keating O’Connor were her bridesmaids.

Seamus’s brother Liam Corry was his best man and their brothers Brian and Eoin Corry shared groomsman duties with a friend, Darren McCarthy.

The groom’s niece Siún Corry was the flowergirl, and his nephew and godchild Tadhg Corry was the pageboy.

Maresa was elegant in a gown sourced from De Stafford Bridal boutique in Nenagh, Co Tipperary.

“Louise of De Stafford Bridal was a dream to work with and helped me create my dream dress,” says the bride. “The groom and groomsmen all got their suits in Red Church, Cork.”

The bridal hair and makeup team were Goldilocks Hair, Newport, Tipperary, and Coco Rouge, and Every Blooming Thing, Limerick, created the floral décor.

The newlyweds headed to Australia’s east coast for their three-week honeymoon.
