30-acre Golden Vale farm makes almost €20k/acre

Following the usual pattern, the final winning bid on the 30.5-acre farm at Kileenaglive, Pallasgreen, Co Tipperary, came from within the room, with the disappointed under-bidder having placed his final bid online.
GVM Auctioneers were involved in a second successful public auction within a week on Friday, May 30, at their auction rooms at Kilmallock Mart.
Up for grabs on this occasion was a 30.5-acre farm at Kileenaglive, Pallasgreen, Co Tipperary, and the joint agent was DNG Liam O’Grady Auctioneers of Tipperary Town.
Richard Ryan (GVM) was the man with gavel on the day, describing the property as an “excellent quality roadside farm situated in the heart of the Golden Vale.”
The lands are all in permanent pasture and laid out in easily managed, well-sheltered fields and paddocks.
The crowd that gathered for the auction was of modest size but of strong intent and, the auctioneer says, there was “plenty of action, both in-house and online,” in the hybrid auction.
It was from the online source that the first bid of €400,000 was produced. There followed a rapid succession of bids from the in-house audience and the online one.
When the bidding reached €550,000, a recess was called. After much discussion, the vendors made the decision to place the property on the market.
It was a positive result that exceeded expectations. Following the usual pattern, the final winning bid came from within the room, with the disappointed under-bidder having placed his final bid online.
