Carrick peg back Doohamlet
Carrick dominated the early exchanges but Doohamlet finished the first half strongly to lead by a point at the break. The second half followed a similar pattern with Carrickmacross opening a four-point gap but Doohamlet fought back to take the lead in stoppage time only for Carrick to force extra time.
The sides were still deadlocked at the end of the first period of extra time with Doohamlet taking a two-point lead midway through the second period only to be pegged back to send the issue to a replay, Carrickmacross 1-17 Doohamlet 1-17.
It also took extra time to sort out the result in the second game in Inniskeen. Magheracloone snatched victory through an opportunist goal by Paul Jones in the third minute of the second period of extra time.
Castleblayney started off well and led by four points after just six minutes but by half-time Magheracloone had recovered to take the lead by 1-6 to 1-4, the goals coming from Gavin Doogan (Magheracloone) and Ciaran Hanratty. It was nip and tuck in the second half with the lead changing hands on a number of occasions but Castleblayney looked to have done enough with a second goal two minutes from the end putting them one in front.
Magheracloone struck back to force extra time, however, but that goal by Jones proved a winner and it finished 2-14 to 2-13.
