The Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII) has elected its council for the coming year at its recent AGM at the Irish Architectural Archives in Dublin.

Newly appointed CEO, Laura Wall, also presented an ambitious 18-month action plan to members, outlining a clear roadmap for growth, innovation and strengthened member engagement.

The plan focuses on delivering measurable progress across key strategic priorities while reinforcing the organisation’s long-term sustainability.

The newly elected council will oversee the strategic direction, governance, and continued development of the Institute.

The PRII national council includes: Kevin Cullinane, deputy director of communications, daa; Teri Kelly, founder and CEO, Total Reputation; David Kinch, director, MKC Communications; and Colm O'Rourke, communications support officer, Pobal.

Paul Hand, president, PRII, said: “It is an exciting time for the PRII, as we move into a new era of leadership. The 18-month action plan that is in place for the institute is ambitious and future-focused. The plan, which is rooted in our five-year strategic vision, will ensure the institute remains in a position of leadership, advocacy and modernity for the communications and PR sectors.

“We also celebrate individuals whose dedication, leadership and passion have had a profound impact on the communications and PR profession in Ireland.” 

Meanwhile, Billy Murphy was elected as the Institute’s newest Life Fellow, the highest honour the PRII can bestow on a full member. A co founder of Drury Communications in 1988, his career spans leading roles in Murray Consultants and Pembroke PR.

Five new PRII fellows were awarded: David Kinch, Niall Quinn, Martina Quinn, James Dunny and Brian Harrison.

David Kinch is a director and part-owner of MKC Communications. He has worked with global and Irish agencies across public and private sectors. Elected to the PRII national council in 2022, he has been company secretary since 2024.

Niall Quinn is a barrister and strategic communications advisor, with over 25 years’ expertise in advisory roles. A former PRII president, Niall remains an influential advocate for the importance of PR in business and society.

Martina Quinn is founder and CEO of Alice Public Relations. A PRII member for two decades, she has led campaigns on gender equality, LGBTQ+ rights, anti racism, reproductive rights and climate action. In 2023, she established the Alice Academy for Activists to equip campaigners with strategic advocacy skills.

James Dunny is founder and CEO of Reput8ion Dynamics. He is a senior strategic advisor. He has also held key roles with Kerry Group and FleishmanHillard.

Brian Harrison is managing director of MKC Communications. Brian advises clients across healthcare, technology, and the public sector. Previously, as head of communications at the American Chamber of Commerce in Ireland, he led major campaigns positioning Ireland as a leading FDI destination. Since 2023, he has served as a director of the PRCA Ireland and currently holds the role of chair.
