Robbie Brady is on the lookout for a new club as his four-year stay at Preston North End reaches a conclusion.
The Championship club opted against activating a one-year extension on the 34-year-old Ireland international’s deal following a season ravaged by injuries.
Those problems began this time last year when Brady tore his calf muscle in Ireland’s friendly away to Luxembourg.
Surgery and gradual rehabilitation in the second half of 2025 brought him back into contention for the World Cup playoff in Czechia but he’d only played 36 minutes of club football before being introduced as a substitute in Prague.
Brady had come close previously to departing the Lancashire outfit before agreeing extensions but he’ll assess his options over the coming weeks.
Heimir Hallgrímsson excused Brady for the end of season friendlies but will want him fit and match-sharp with a new club for the start of the Uefa Nations League campaign, away to Kosovo on September 24.
This time a decade ago Brady was about to illuminate Euro 2016 for Ireland but himself and fellow squad members Séamus Coleman and Shane Duffy have fresh club challenges to confront for next season after becoming free agents.
