Two men who had been arrested by gardaí investigating the killing of Scarlett Faulkner in Tipperary last month have been released without charge.

Earlier this week, Gardaí said that a man in his 40s and another in his late teens had been arrested on Tuesday morning and were being held at garda stations in Tipperary under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.

Scarlett Faulkner, 29, was assaulted on March 21 at the side of the R494 road in Birdhill, Co Tipperary.

A woman aged in her 40s and a teenage girl have already been charged in connection with the assault.

Ms Faulkner suffered critical head injuries in the attack.

In an update on Thursday morning, gardaí said the men have since been released without charge.

"Files will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions," a garda spokesperson said.

"Investigations are ongoing," they added.
