The teenage girl who died after being struck by a scrambler motorbike in Dublin has been named locally.

Grace Lynch, aged 16, died on Sunday after a crash involving a scrambler bike in Finglas.

The accident occurred on the Ratoath Road in Finglas at around 2.20pm on Sunday.

In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said the girl, a pedestrian, was brought to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where she died from her injuries.

It is understood she was on her way to meet friends when she was hit by the bike.

A man in his late teens has been arrested and is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in Dublin.

The two teenagers on the bike were treated for “non life-threatening” injuries.

One was described as “an adult male, aged in his late teens” and the other a “male juvenile”.

Gardai said forensic investigators examined the scene and the road has now reopened.

They are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

In particular, anyone who has camera footage of the area taken between 2.10pm and 2.40pm is asked to make it available to gardaí.
