Dell to announce more than 100 cloud-computing jobs

Dell is expected to announce the creation of more than 100 new cloud-computing jobs in Ireland today.

The computer giant has bases in Dublin and Limerick, and it is expected the new jobs will be split across the two locations.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny will join Dell executives to reveal details of the plan at 10am today.

Dell employs 2,300 people in Ireland. About 1,000 staff work in Limerick in service and support and 1,300 work in Cherrywood, Co Dublin in direct sales and telephone-support operations.

Two years ago, Dell cut 1,900 jobs in its Limerick plant and moved its production unit to Poland, leaving 1,000 non-manufacturing jobs behind.
