Golden Evening Surfer

"I was taking pictures of surfers when I noticed this incredible backdrop of the sun setting, lighting up the mist from the waves crashing against the promenade in Tramore. I quickly changed settings and waited for the perfect moment. A surfer finally caught his last wave and allowed me to capture the beauty of our coast."

"One day walking around Galway City I saw this really interesting shop I’d never seen before, sea themed, the door was open and sunlight was flowing in creating interesting shadows and colours inside. Standing outside was the guy in the picture. As a fairly shy person I have never actually asked someone if I could take their picture, but it was to good a chance to miss so I asked. Very nice guy but for me he looked like an old sea dog and was wearing the clothes to match."

Saviour of the Sea

"On a blustery day in June 2019, the RNLI 13-31 Shannon Class Lifeboat arrives at it's new home in Clogherhead Lifeboat Station, were it is welcomed by the community and given it's new name 'The Michael O'Brien". Named in honour of Michael O'Brien, who was a volunteer coxswain with the service, and like Michael, all the men and women who will crew this lifeboat are volunteers who risk their lives on a regular basis to save others. They are the real 'Saviours of the Seas' "

Winter Sunset Swim

"I hadn’t intended on photographing the swimmers on this icy cold January evening. But as I saw the camaraderie and support as they emerged from the water with the snow-capped Mourne Mountains in the background I quickly mounted the camera on the tripod. The image captures the tremendous bonds of friendship in the hardest of times. These sea maidens daily enchant the passers-by with their laughter and song."

"Worm Hole dive location was deferred from 2020 and so nearly did not happen again as is very dependent on excellent weather. We entered at a depth of 16m from the Ocean side travelling a long dark corridor to enter the Worm Hole. Once inside all were amazed at the clarity and how the light played in the water. This is a bucket list location for all local and international divers."

"This photograph was taken on a windswept afternoon in May from Poolbeg lighthouse, where I spotted an adventurous windsurfer at the entrance to Dublin port. The shot caught my attention with the seagull keeping a watchful eye from above and the green port entry tower giving scale and colour to the image."

Hurling at the Ball Alley

"Cullenstown is a place with a lot of memories for my family, some good ones and some tragic ones but we always feel drawn to the place. Even with its sadness it still has a lot of beauty. Generations of my family would have all played in the ball alley, and now my son a passionate hurler plays there. I love sunrises and wanted to capture that in the image with him hurling at the wall and have an image that I could keep forever."
