HISTORY repeating itself ensured Kerry couple Áine Quane and Paul O’Sullivan’s big day was memorable for all the best reasons.

The couple were married in the bride’s native Kilmoyley, close to Banna Strand, on December 22.

Áine and Paul, from Annagh, Tralee, exchanged vows in the Sacred Heart Church, Kilmoyley, in a ceremony led by Fr Pat Crean-Lynch and then celebrated with a reception in Ballyseede Castle Hotel, Tralee.

It was an extra-special occasion also for the bride’s parents Ann and John Quane, and the groom’s mother and father Beatrice and Denis O’Sullivan, as renowned Tralee wedding snapper Martin Cleary of Cleary Photography ( clearysphotography.ie) took his place behind the lens.

“Martin’s father was the photographer for both Paul and my parents’ weddings so it brought back many happy memories for them,” says the bride.

Also in the frame were Áine’s sister Adrienne Casey and friend Ailís Ní Riordáin as her bridesmaids, and Paul’s friends Tim Daly and Eoin Murphy, who were best man and groomsman.

Áine’s mother Ann made the cake, featuring the same cake topper that had adorned the bride’s parents’ wedding cake. “Having my mother make the wedding cake was very special to us,” says Áine.

The bride’s nieces Aoibheann Quane and Adrianne Casey (flower girls) and nephews Tadhg Quane and Sean and Tomás Casey (pageboys) were thrilled to be at the heart of the action.

“Our vision for our wedding day was to bring all our family and friends together and to celebrate with those closest to us,” says Áine.

Áine and Paul got engaged in 2022 and returned to the scene of the proposal on their big day.

“We were out walking on Banna Strand when Paul got down on one knee to pop the question,” she says. “On our wedding day, we were eager to get some pictures and were so lucky that the rain held off and it was dry enough to get some lovely shots!”

Super-elegant Áine shopped local when it came to the perfect attire.

“I got my dress in Finesse Bridal Listowel, Mags and Liz [Horgan] are a dream to work with and add everything so easy. I got my veil and headpiece there also,” she says.

Paul and his party sourced their black tuxes in Tuxedo Tralee.

They chose white roses and lilies as their floral theme. “The flowers were absolutely beautiful; we were very fortunate to have my cousin Siobhán Clancy as our florist,” says the bride.

Theresa Diggins of Purple Hair Lounge, Causeway, was the bridal hairstylist with Helena O’Leary as the makeup artist.

The newlyweds honeymooned in the Caribbean.

“We went on a Caribbean cruise just after Christmas, visiting the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Grand Turk,” says Áine.
