'I'm doing well': Author Cathy Kelly reveals cancer diagnosis

Author Cathy Kelly has revealed that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Kelly shared the news with her followers on X, formerly Twitter, saying that she has begun treatment.
"This is a very different post to my usual posts but I wanted to let you all know that I've been diagnosed with breast cancer," she wrote.
"I've started treatment and am currently undergoing chemotherapy. Thanks to love and support and a brilliant medical team, I'm doing well and you'll be hearing from me soon."
In a second tweet accompanied by pictures of her two dogs, Kelly said she was enjoying lots of cuddles with Scamp and Juno.
"Also coming soon: chemo hats - the patterns," she added.
The former Dancing with the Stars contestant celebrated her 57th birthday just over two weeks ago.
Soon after she shared the news of her diagnosis, hundreds of well-wishes came pouring in from friends, fans, and fellow authors.
Broadcaster Louise McSharry, who underwent her own cancer journey when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in 2014, wished Kelly well with her treatment.
Kelly has been busy on social media having revealed the cover of her upcoming book just last week.
will be Kelly's 23rd book in a career that has spanned over 25 years.
The book is due to be released next February.
The beloved writer will be supported through her treatment by her husband and twin sons.
