In the environmental, health, and safety (EHS) management sector, EHS International, founded by Chris Mee, stands out not only for its commitment to excellence but also for its focus on cultivating and nurturing both emerging and more mature talent.

With over 30 years of frontline EHS experience, the CEO of EHS International Chris Mee has long recognised a commercially important gap in the Irish and international market — the need for a single-source service provider for all environmental, health and safety requirements. The new company officially launched in October with a substantial investment of over €5 million.

EHS International, led by Chris Mee, has set its sights on transforming the industry by delivering the most comprehensive range of EHS services available while also providing related EHS technology and project solutions. The company is intent on creating extensive and meaningful employment opportunities.

It is currently seeking to employ safety managers for both construction and non-construction positions, process safety engineers, industrial hygienists, safety course tutors, financial accountants, business development associates and administrators. They are a registered employment agency and have recently hired John (JP) Prout, who previously worked as Director of Client Services at Hobson Prior.

EHS International intends to create graduate programmes and micro-educational modules in close collaboration with third-level institutions. These programmes will nurture talented graduates in EHS and related management areas, providing them with hands-on experience and mentorship.

By investing in the next generation of EHS professionals, the company not only secures its future talent pool but also contributes to the overall growth and development of the sector.

EHS International is currently working on several exciting projects including one centred around lithium-ion battery fires. These fires are becoming a major issue for people using electric cars; electric scooters; and many more battery-powered devices. The company is using several innovative solutions including robotics and new/emerging extinguishing agents.

EHS International is also using a large number of technology solutions including immersive safety training in collaboration with other centres of excellence to improve the effectiveness of training in competency training programmes. All the above solutions require investment in excellent people and in-house training programmes. EHS International’s commitment to creating a vibrant workplace is underscored by its ambitious plan to create 100 jobs over the next year.

“Recruiting top-tier talent in the EHS sector is no small feat, given the breadth of competencies required. EHS International has strategically approached this challenge on multiple fronts,” said Chris Mee. “First and foremost, we have assembled a large and impressive team of senior EHS and management experts, bringing together a wealth of knowledge, skills, and experience.”

Recognising the need for a robust leadership team, EHS International has made it a priority to provide the necessary resources to empower our leaders. This approach ensures the delivery of top services to clients but also fosters an environment where leadership can thrive. By emphasising the value of knowledge, intelligence, teamwork, and dedication to excellence, their leaders play a vital role in attracting and retaining top talent.

Chris added: "Our recruitment approach is to build a community of professionals dedicated to safer workplaces and sustainability. Prioritising talent development, embracing technology, and navigating challenges, EHS International is a force for positive change in the EHS sector.”

In the coming year, as EHS International solidifies its position as the fastest-growing EHS provider, it does so with a commitment to fostering talent that will shape the industry's future. As EHS International, led by Chris Mee, continues its journey, it invites talented individuals to join its mission of making a lasting impact in the realm of EHS.
