Everitt ‘chuffed’ to play for A team

BARRY EVERITT gets an unexpected chance to impress the Irish senior selectors when he lines out for Ireland A against Scotland in Stirling this evening (7.30).

Everitt ‘chuffed’ to play for A team

Everitt had resigned himself to playing second fiddle to his Zurich Premiership rival Paul Burke until the Harlequins player was called up as replacement to David Humphreys on the senior squad.

“I am chuffed,” admitted the London Irish player yesterday. “It gives me a chance to play on a higher stage, but my main consideration will be for the team, not for myself.”

Earlier in the day, Michael Bradley brings his under-21 team to Dundee. The under-21s lost three of their five games last year.

The As won the championship with four out of five wins, while the young guns lost against Wales (36-38), England (23-28) and France (21-22).

Ireland beat Scotland 25-18 and trounced Italy 60-14.
