Ger Manley’s tenure as Cork camogie manager has been extended for another season. This will be his third year as manager having led the county to back-to-back All-Ireland senior camogie titles last season.
Previously, he was involved as coach/selector.
This year, Cork came up short to rivals Galway in the final. They did, however, claim national league honours after a 12-year wait.
Cork senior camogie liaison officer and former Board chairperson Marian McCarthy said the Cork Camogie Board was happy to appoint him for another year.
“The Board met with Ger to review the past year and under our bye-laws he had the option to extend his term to a third year and Ger wanted to stay on. We were happy to go along with that. While we lost the All Ireland, we won the national league. Ger was automatically ratified at our Board meeting on Monday night.”
Manley is looking forward to continue working with the squad. “I took up the option of a third year because there is a talented group of players and I’m looking forward to hopefully a successful year" said Manley.
“I was disappointed with the result in the All-Ireland final, as you should be, but I was delighted with the resolve shown by the team.”
Manley confirmed there will be changes to his backroom team with key personnel Adrian O’Sullivan and Dr Wesley O’Brien stepping away.
