Woman, 30s, taken to hospital following Limerick assault

A woman, aged in her 30s, was taken to the hospital following an assault in Limerick city.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening on Lower Denmark St, at approximately 7.30pm.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the incident.

"A woman in her 30s was conveyed to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries," said a Garda spokesperson.

It is understood the woman was bleeding after being assaulted by a man she was in the company of.

Investigations are ongoing.
