Pittsburgh Steelers player allegedly assaulted in Dublin ahead of NFL game

An American football player has allegedly been assaulted in Dublin, according to reports.
The NFL's website reports that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Skylar Thompson "was jumped and robbed Friday night" in the capital.
It comes ahead of the NFL's first-ever game in Dublin between the Steelers and the Minnesota Vikings. The game is being played at Corke Park.
Mr Thompson is currently on the injured reserve list and was not scheduled to take the field on Sunday.
NFL Network Insider reporter Tom Pelissero said the player "suffered minor injuries but is OK and with the team".
A Steelers spokesman told the journalist: “We are aware of a situation involving Skylar Thompson on Friday night in Dublin.
"We will have no further comment at this time as we are working with NFL security to gather more information regarding the incident.”

Thompson, who is on injured reserve, suffered minor injuries but is OK and with the team.
